Lorraine Finlay Speaks at Western Australian Legal Theory Association Meeting

The Western Australian Legal Theory Association (WALTA) held its latest meeting at on Tuesday 8 September at the School of Law.

The guest speaker for the evening was Law Lecturer, Lorraine Finlay, who spoke about real property rights in the context of the Australian Law Reform Commission’s Freedoms Inquiry. 


 Those attending also enjoyed an informative and engaged discussion about the featured article, Judicial Activism and the Death of the Rule of Law by The Hon. Justice Dyson Heydon.


WALTA was established by Dr Augusto Zimmermann in October 2010, who remains the President of the Association.  It consists of academically interested lawyers, legal scholars and law students.  The aim of WALTA is to promote high-level scholarly discussion on subjects related to legal theory through debates, academic publications and conferences.  Members meet on a regular basis to enjoy lively discussion about legal principles, theories and issues, with each meeting focused on the discussion of an article or book chapter.
